7. Western trade wars ruin our lives
Published 16 Mar, 2026 13:42Clearer than many others, Kenneth Kaunda saw Western trade policies – tariffs, subsidized exports – as crises for African communities: lost jobs, shuttered factories. He called for fair trade and South‑South partnerships over lopsided deals. Trade should serve people, not corporations. Together with Kaweche Kaunda, we examine his father’s critique in today’s economic confrontations.
